I feel that ass has been thoroughly kicked - THIS IS EPIC! 8D Ahhh, the dynamic pose I love eet! X3 Really dig the orange lighting/tones used here, as well. Great perspective, too! And angular lines make for an awesome style! o:
AHHHH super great!!! Jay makes a fantastic Rudie, but then again, what ISN'T made better by adding sharks on magnetically-powered roller skates <3 Also you nailed the cel-shaded style here, and the color palette/warm scheme is really fitting of the game!!
Long time no see dude, hope all's been well with you! Thank you, I love angular cel-shaded styles like this, I think I could've pushed the lineart thinner and emphasized the 3D look more but I'm glad it looks decent!
Ahhh yess--I've been busy, but doing okay. Job hunting for in the creative field is murder, though! As for the art itself, the good thing about the lineart is that it is actually very JSR-ish, particularly the first game when lots of the characters had those thicker outlines. Either way it looks great!
It really is...I'm looking to get out of the creative field and to just work for myself, as the jobs are so soul-sucking I just don't feel like it's worth it anymore. I wish you the best of luck in your pursuit though and I hope you find something good. I'm glad the lineart feels right then! I felt I overdid it a bit, hahah! I would love to see a new JSR one day.
I would LOVE to work for myself. I've heard from so many people that the professional art world is so unstable, etc... I know freelancing hours can be murder, and establishing yourself is super tough, but I've heard the freedom/independence is really nice. Really though, being a recent college grad, I have to look all over for work currently... but maybe somewhere down the line I can shift. I don't know, it's really a lot to think about :/ Just trying to navigate it as best I can, currently.
A new JSR would be great! I'm not sure it'll ever happen just because the game is kind of a cult classic and not really a great stellar, but still. One can dream. That and Psychonauts are two stylish games that I would adore sequels for :')
It really is horribly unstable. It's very very sad how much you have to struggle just to survive, with how little it tends to pay and how much you have to switch jobs. It's also very much going the route of both being outsourced, thus moving our jobs to other countries, and being freelance/contract only, so usually only 3-6 month gigs where you need to supply your own software/hardware, and they don't offer benefits. We are sorely undervalued despite how much our work is necessary to promote and market products. I would love the freedom for sure! I wish you luck on your search, it's a tough thing to do, and I hope you find something you really like dude.
Yeah there's apparently a mobile version but I read it doesn't work. I'm sure it's not a NEW game but I'd still try it on my android, hahah. Psychonauts has rumors of a new game possibly coming out (they just released a toy line for the old one!) but I am writing them off as just rumors for now XD
